Savor Miami is the first Cuban Bistro concept in Miami focused on serving good food and good wine in an easy-going setting.
Savor’s unassuming yet refined ambiance, perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner with clients, friends and family brings together the eclectic influences that best define Miami with all its internationality, creativity and of course, unique swagger. Serving Cuban Cuisine with a European flair, the dishes were conceived to reminisce homemade Cuban food prepared with the freshest ingredients and executed with the highest of standards.
The spacious main dining room boasts photographs of Cuba and chalkboards displaying the day’s specials on its walls. Meanwhile, patrons can get comfortable at the bistro-style high top or dining tables.
The wine rack corridor wall leads to Savor’s best-kept secret: the Wine Room. This private area features barrel wood topped tables surrounded by a collection of hand selected wines from Latin America’s top cellars. The Wine Room also allows for a sneak peak into Chef Ariel’s pristine kitchen through a lengthwise glass window and glass French doors.
It is there that Chef Ariel creates a daily selection of appetizing traditional meats, seafood and sides, fresh from scratch. Savor’s menu offers seafood-heaven ceviches, stuffed plantains, traditionally made empanadas, corn tamales, an exquisite pork loin in mango sauce, inimitable guava BBQ pork ribs, hand selected grilled meats, delectable coconut fritters, just to name a few of the Latin driven specialties. More European inspired dishes such as the chicken Fricasse, the paellas, Vizcaya style cod, meatballs catalana and the Spanish omelet also sprinkle the menu.
In addition, Savor Miami has established itself as a breakfast destination with fresh fruit batidas and Cuban favorites like empanadas, croquetas and sandwiches; a lunch must for professionals looking for a fast-without-giving-up-on-quality spot; a casual family venue with choices sure to please everyone; and, last but not least, a perfect place to taste a great glass of wine before taking the bottle home to complement your spouse’s dinner party.
Executive Chef Ariel Alvarez is the mastermind behind Savor Miami’s dishes. He brings homemade Cuban cuisine with a flair of Miami’s internationality to its patrons at an affordable price in a laid-back ambiance.
Chef Ariel Alvarez attended the Sevilla Gastronomic School in Havana, Cuba where he acquired his Masters in International Cuisine, a degree as Executive Chef Master and a special certification from the International Cuisine Excel Course by Lausanne Switzerland School of Culinary Arts, one of the most revered culinary foundations in the world.
With the extraordinary gastronomic knowledge he learned in school, Chef Ariel went on to work at several of Havana’s top dining venues and hotels such as the elegant La Ferminia, the historic 1830 restaurant, the authentic La Cecilia, and the luxurious El Comodoro Hotel before joining El Floridita in 1995.
While at the world-renowned El Floridita restaurant, Chef Ariel served President Jimmy Carter, Giorgio Armani, Danny Glover and Naomi Campbell. He held the position of Executive Chef until 2003 during which he was responsible for designing the menu, creating special dishes, controlling inventory, training personnel and ensuring quality, but he also actively participated in the opening of twenty-five El Floridita restaurants franchises throughout Europe and Latin America.
In 2003 he lent his skills to another world famous Cuban restaurant: La Bodeguita del Medio in Mexico City. Chef Ariel then moved to Florida where he proved his talents at several high-end locations including the Veranda restaurant in the Turnberry Isle Aventura Club until he became the Executive Chef and owner of Diamond Chef Corporation in 2006. Diamond Chef Corp was responsible for several Latin American restaurants in South Florida, such as the Jalisco and El Patio Andaluz in Miami Beach, as well as the El Cuchi and The Garden restaurant.
In late 2010, Chef Ariel was presented with the opportunity to partner in a new venture: Savor Miami. With the opening of the first Savor Miami scheduled for Spring 2011 at Doral, he oversaw the build out of the top-of-the-line kitchen, designed the menu and put together a team of culinary experts. Chef Ariel brings his solid academic background and extensive hands-on experience in Cuban cuisine to Savor Miami, the first Cuban Bistro concept in Miami. The restaurant focuses on serving homemade Cuban food prepared with the freshest ingredients and executed with the highest standards.
That is Chef Ariel Alvarez commitment.
